A Cord of Three Strands

Photo from Morguefile
"Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
Ecclesiastes 4:12

Within two months Dick will have performed four weddings! The stacks of gifts and cards will represent thousands of dollars spent to help the happy couple start their new life together.

However, Dick will have already shared with them the most priceless gift any couple could receive...
the presence of Jesus with them day by day. Whether they accept the gift or not is up to the individuals. But Dick and I know the truth of Ecclesiastes 4:12 and pray that each couple will forge a “cord of three strands” with Jesus.

A Cord of Three Strands
by Pam Williams

We wandered life as “you” and “me”
Until our paths entwined.
Then whirled together day by day,
Spoke more of “ours” than “mine”.

Though wrapped together, holding fast,
We were not one, but two.
Without three strands a cord unwinds—
Reverts to “me” and “you”.

When we invited Jesus in,
He interlaced our lives
To form a strong, supportive bond
That reassures and thrives.

A cord of three will hold throughout
The challenges we face.
With Jesus clasping hands with ours
We’re sheltered by God’s grace.

  1. A lovely poem to pass along to couples Pam.

  2. Hi Pam! Thank you for visiting my blog today!

What a beautiful poem. You are so talented, Pam! It's very simple, and isn't 'simple' the most powerful? I am really kind of in awe here. I read your 'About Me' and Wow! I just had checked out some Chicken Soup books from the library, so maybe I even read some of your stuff. What a blessing, and you must be so tickled.

I think you left another link too, so I'll check that out. I'd be honored to get to know you better. I hope you'll come back and visit me again!
    Happy Wednesday!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Ceil, and for your kind words. I will definitely be back to visit your blog--we seem to be kindred spirits!

  3. It's me again. You mean you WROTE that link?? Oh my gosh. Now I am on the floor.

I am totally subscribing to your blog. I invite you to come over and 'follow' me too. I'd love to get to know you better. You can inspire me, I am sure of that.

You know, I think we are kindred spirits too. How fun!

It is a Happy Wednesday :)

  4. Oh jeez, now I look like a stalker. Well, I don't have any of those fancy things you ask for in a follower. I pushed Google+ because I have an account there. But my blog is not connected to my Google+. I am in the stone age, I know.

Maybe you can help me there too! Argh.

    1. Oh Ceil, I had to laugh when I read your comments. What a hoot! Glad you found that you could follow through Google+. I think it is pretty easy, (here is the info link how to connect your blog to Goggle+, if you would want to do that.
A lot of people follow through my author Facebook page. I like it because I can just post short comments with links to my posts here at 2 Encourage.

I am now following your blog, Ceil, and have added it to my blog roll of inspiring reads!
