Getting to Know Him

How do we get to know someone better? We spend time with them, we talk with them, we look around at what they do, and we chat with others who also know them.

As Christians, we are encouraged to get to know God. But how do we do that?

We can learn some things about God through creation. Romans 1:20 says, “Ever since God created the world, His invisible qualities, both His eternal power and His divine nature, have been clearly seen; they are perceived in the things that God has made.”

Again, in Psalm 19:1, we read, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Just looking around us, we can see God’s incredible intellect, His awesome and fearsome power, His vast wisdom, and so much more. This gives us a partial picture of God.

His Word, the Bible, gives us more glimpses of who God is. From it we learn what God loves, what God does, and what God values. The more we study God’s Word, the better we will know Him—how He thinks, how He feels, what He expects. We garner insight into His heart and mind.

God makes every effort to be known by us—even living among us as Jesus! John 1:18 says, “The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, Je has made God known. Through Jesus’ words and actions, God plainly let everyone know that He loves us and wants to be with us. (John 3:16)

Want to get to know God bette? Look around! Pick up a Bible! Talk to Jesus! Talk with those who already know Him. God is reaching out! (Isaiah 65:2) He wants you to know Him more!

Be encouraged
